In the fourth match of the day, retired aerospace engineer and former World Champion of Champions title holder Anne Nunes and her husband Bill Brault also won a hard fought tie break against English qualifiers Chris Rodgers and Steve Wade from Leicester.
The USA pair scored on six of the nine ends in the first set to edge the verdict 7-6, but once again it was a first set losers who stormed back, only dropping two ends to win 12-4 and force a shoot out.
But it was all in vain with the American's sealing the verdict 2-0.
They now advance to a second round clash against England's Les Gillett and Wayne Willgress on Sunday morning at 9.30am (12th January).
