The third of the semi-final spots went to number 6 seed Mark Dawes, who had to dig deep against Paul Hartley - the last remaining qualifier in the championships.
Driving instructor Hartley, who plays for the powerful South Shields Vipers from Tyne and Wear, reserved his place at Potters after playing in many qualifying events around the country over several years before enjoying success in the Carlisle qualifier in 2024.
Hartley had a slow start but rectified that on the home straight of the first set, scoring a treble and single to win 7-5.
The second set was always tight. Tied a 3-3 after four ends, Dawes scored doubles on two of the remaining five ends, while Hartley won three ends - but scored only singles and narrowly lost the set 7-6.
Hartley played great bowls in the tiebreak, but two sensational, on-target drives from Dawes, saw him win on the tiebreak 2-0.
His opponent in the semi-finals will be number 7 seed Jason Banks from Scotland, a runner-up in this event two years ago to Jamie Walker. They clash tomorrow (Saturday 25th January) in the second semi-final at 3pm.
