The second game in the Ambassador Cruise Line Ladies Matchplay Singles was a replay of last year's title decider which saw England's Katherine Rednall beat Scotland's Julie Forrest 5-9, 12-5, 2-1 to take title number six since her initial victory in 2014, but this time round, Forrest got her revenge.
Rednall looked to be heading into the semi-final after taking the opening set 9-4 and then forged an 8-3 lead after six ends of the second.
However, as is her trait, Forrest hit back, dug deep and then counted a treble and a single to stand one off the pace at 8-7 playing the last.
Rednall held a match-winning position, but with her third bowl, Forrest hit the jack into the ditch and then added a second counter to hold a set lie.
Attempting to alter the head, Rednall played a running bowl, but didn't connect firmly enough with any of the holding shots and that vital count of two gave Forrest a lifeline into a best of three end tie break, which she won 2-1 to keep her in the frame to regain the title.
A bitterly disappointed Rednall said later "That's the one that got away. I knew at 8-3 up with three ends remaining that I just had to keep it tight, but I let her back into the game".
56-year-old Forrest, a back-to-back winner of this title in 2019 and '20, is an Early Years Practitioner in her home town of Hawick, and she now continues against Nicole Rogers in the semi-final on Wednesday 22nd January at 3pm.
