SCOTLAND'S JASON BANKS CONTINUES HIS QUEST FOR A WBT DOUBLE





Scotland's Jason Banks continues to eye up a World Bowls Tour double title success. He won the Scottish International Open at West Lohian late last year, and won his 1st Round match iAmbassador Cruise Linee LineWorld Indoor Bowls Open Singles event just a short time ago against Malaysia's Izzat Shameer Bin Dzulkeple.


Runner up in the World Open Singles to Jamie Walker just two years ago, the 28 year old Design Engineer from Inverurie is one of the brightest young talents on the Tour and he overcame is very talented, multi decorated Malaysian opponent who was making his debut in the Championships 10-5, 8-4.


Banks trailed 5-2 after four ends but picked up seven shots over the remaining ends of the set to win.


Only eight ends were played in the second set with each player winning four but while Izzat scored singles, Banks chalked up doubles and secured his victory.


His 2nd Round opponent will be Scottish legend Alex Marshall MBE. Marshall holds the record on winning this title on six occasions. His first win came in 1999 while his last success was in 2015, and last year he lost in the all Scottish title decider to Stewart Anderson. They will clash on Thursday 23rd January at 7.30pm.
